Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Psychotherapy Services

What types of issues do you specialise in?

I specialise in addressing a range of challenges, including addictions, relationships, developmental trauma, and eating disorders. My trauma-informed approach ensures a safe space for you to explore your experiences and heal.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone seeking personal growth, healing, or improved well-being. If you’re experiencing challenges in areas such as relationships, emotions, or behaviours, therapy can provide valuable support and guidance.

I know that finding the right fit between client and therapist is important, so I offer a free 20 minute call.

What can I expect from therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions provide a confidential and non-judgmental space to discuss your concerns, set goals, and work towards positive change. I will collaborate with you to develop a tailored approach that suits your unique needs and preferences.

Therapy sessions typically involve open conversations in a safe, confidential environment. I will listen, ask questions, and provide guidance to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Choosing a therapist is a personal decision. Factors to consider include their expertise, approach, and whether you feel comfortable and understood during the initial consultation. I welcome you to reach out and schedule a free 20 minute call to see if my approach is right for you.

How long is each session, and how many sessions will I need?

Sessions usually last 60 minutes. The number of sessions varies based on individual needs and goals. Some find relief in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy for more complex issues.

Studies show that for around half of the people who seek therapy, it takes an average of 15-20 sessions to begin to report healing of their symptoms. That equates to around 3-5 months of weekly sessions

Do you offer both individual and couples therapy?

Yes, I offer both individual and couples therapy. Whether you’re seeking help as an individual or working on relational dynamics with your partner, I am here to provide support and guidance.

Are your services available online?

Yes, I offer both in-person sessions and telehealth options to accommodate your preferences and needs. Telehealth provides a convenient way to access therapy from the comfort of your own space.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend the session, I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule the appointment. Missed appointments with less than 24 hours of notice will be charged at the full session fee.

What therapeutic approaches do you use?

I work in a person-centred way, and use a holistic, integrated approach to therapy that draws upon Gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems, Attachment theory, Interpersonal Therapy, DBT and Family Constellations, as well as somatic and experiential techniques. I tailor my approach based on your unique needs and the stage of your healing journey.
